PlayStation’s new Spider-Man title made its triumphant debut at E3 this week. Sony saved the new Spider-Man PS4 trailer for last during their E3 2017 keynote presentation, and for good reason. Within seconds of watching Spider-Man gameplay, it's clear Insomniac Games and Sony are putting a lot into this game. Our nine-minute glimpse of gameplay shows us what to expect from Spidey's game, but raises even more questions: Is the environment actually open-world or just littered with quick-action commands?

The Spider-Man trailer hints at the game being an open-world title. While the numerous quick-time events in the trailer may instill doubt, Insomniac Games' creative director Bryan Intihar reassured that the game is definitely made in the open-world style.

"The open-world setting is perfect for Spider-Man," said Intihar . "Expressiveness, fluidity and the idea of being an acrobatic improviser helps us give players a lot of choice."

Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 is one of those exclusives that's just been teasing fans for ages. It was first announced at E3 two years ago, and has been quietly, slowly teased since. Now, the game is just a few months away, and Insomniac games and Sony are finally ready to show a little more of the PlayStation-exclusive adventure. Specifically, Sony used its E3 press conference to show off a cavalcade of Spider-Man villains.

The trailer is an action smorgasboard -- showing Spidey rushing toward RAFT, a high security prison, to pursue one of his classic foes: Electro. The electric-powered supervillain used his powers to open all of the cells on the island prison, forcing Spider-Man to fight all the inmates at once. During a breathtaking chase that spans the prison interior, the outer walls and all the way to the tallest tower, Spider-Man runs into the Rhino, The Scorpion, The Vulture and, eventually, Negative Man... and well, he doesn't exactly win the five-on-one fight.

Sony left the conclusion of the trailer up in the air -- but was kind enough to follow up the teaser with a few minutes of live gameplay. Yes, watching Spider-Man swing around New York City is gloriously fun, but the trailer didn't reveal too much else about what to expect in the final game. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to try it for ourselves. Marvel's Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 hits stores on Sept. 7, 2018.

PS4 exclusive... On the fence about this one, the last Spiderman game they released had great expectations, but I just wasn't into delivering pizzas. Don't really know what has been released since that release, but I think I will "wait and see" before I invest in this version.

Also, I don't enjoy the PS4 as much as the Xbox, especially the actual HD on an ultra HD TV. It makes a HUGE difference in my book and love the graphics on the X1X.

Who is planning on this game as a day one procurement? Anyone?

My brother got it pre-ordered so he got that covered. But I'll play this one too after he plays it.
It's our some kind of agreement that whomsoever buys a certain game. the buyer must be the one to play it first no matter the circumstances.

but we don't have it yet as it just released yesterday because we had to wait for someone to pick it up on the retail store in the Capital.............and it's a hassle to go to the Capital.........it's overseas.

I picked it up yesterday on my way home from work. Still in the bag though, sitting in my game room. I'll load it later this evening, but nor sure when I will get around to playing it. The TV commercials look really cool, but I didn't see any actual in game footage in them.

Oh man everyone's gonna be able to play it. My time table will at least be 3 or so months from now to be able to play it. so y'all have to forgive me if I stop posting about Spider-man in the future.

Well, I loaded it, and played for a few minutes, but I was not highly "enthusiastic" with what materialized. Don't get me wrong, I am sure it will be the "cup of tea" for others, but the controls are so busy... I am sure once you get it down pat, it will seem more "organized", but I was just swinging around, bouncing off walls, and kicking and punching people, shoot web masses at them and it felt like a hack and slash where you just mash buttons to stay in constant motion and everything within your area were pummeled or incapacitated. This kind of action doesn't appeal to me much, it reminded me of Bayonetta or DMC, no real structure, just how fast can I mash buttons. I didn't play long, and will give it another try, but when it comes to games I am a first impression guy. Of course that is not always an accurate barometer, cause I started playing Borderlands at least five times before I actually got far enough into it to realize how great it was, but that was based on the "cartoony" graphics, not BUTTON MASHING syndrome. By all means, everyone tell us what you think, and I will be giving it another go, just not in the immediate future. But the first time they ask me to deliver a pizza, I will turn it off forever..... Pizza delivery was so infuriating to me in the last game, that I parked that one in my collection as just that, part of a collection.
