Welcome to my blog. I'd like to see us all have one one day, but it's up to you. If it is about me and doesn't fit anywhere else I'll put it here. Things like personal stuff, stories about gaming, and the like. If we all want to do this I think a Blog section would be great. Anyway this first blog has to be short because I can hear a storm coming!

This isn't a bad idea. There are things I want to talk about but don't know where to put the actual topic. but this'll work nicely.
I'll create one for myself should the need arises.

Ahhhh, like our collection threads, but for everything.... I like it. I will start my own, "what's happening with Bear" thread, but it won't be called a blog, but same perspective.

Okay as the older members here know I suffer from social anxiety disorder. Do not confuse this illness with being shy. Think of walking to a room seeing another person and feeling the same type of fear that you'd get if that person was a hungry tiger. I feel better if I have mum there but it's no easy. to get better I have to do a lot of things but the hardest is facing my fears. Think of what terrorises you the most and imagine having to face up to it several times a week for the rest of your life.

Sadly though this also affects other things as well and every time my net goes down or some other stressful situation comes up I get chest tightening fear.

Onto something positive. The people here give me a place to communicate amongst friends. The Warrior Clan is a very special place to me and I love you all in a brotherly way.

More soon.

What I did to get over my fear of gore is a tad extreme so if you have a weak stomach do not look up the things that I’m going to talk about here. A long time ago when graphics were starting to become more realistic I was presented with a problem. The slightest amount of blood was a gag worthy thing for me & as we know games do have gore. Now despite what I did I still don’t like gore in movies and games to the huge extent that they do sometimes, but I can stomach playing games like Fallout 3 without hurling. I watched autopsies.

Yeah I know you weren’t expecting that. Gunther von Hagens used to do educational autopsies to teach doctors & promote his museum, a museum that is probably one of the most controversial in the world for its human body exhibits.

Training your mind to think in a different way is difficult especially with anxiety problems. If I saw a horror film I knew it wasn’t real, but it disturbed me that it came from someone’s mind and that too made me feel ill. Gunther’s show however had no ill intent as it was to educate and that helped my thinking proses. I can tell you more about this subject but it isn’t for the faint of heart. So only if you ask.

With a months’ worth of autopsy experience I could now watch a heart operation let alone a video game. Admittedly though my upcoming operation on my wrist causes some worry because of my anaesthetist failure fear.

To end I should tell you though that despite getting though days of autopsy training and getting over my fears in the most extreme way I still can’t stand needles.

How about you guys, has gore ever disturbed you?

After 31 years in the fire department, blood and open wounds don't faze me to much. A swan dive off a 12 story hotel onto a sidewalk is gruesome, but that doesn't happen very often. It's not for everyone.

I had a feeling that you'd have some horror stories from what I know about your job. Sad part of life.

I know the feeling of people confusing other things with shyness. Most of the time I prefer to be alone.Unless I have a girlfriend, then I like to be with her all the time.I like hanging out with friends and socializing occasionally, but not everyday and maybe do it for only an hour or so.Afterwards,I start getting bored and tired of the people around me.Psychologists have told me I shouldn't feel this way and bla bla bla,but I think they don't realize it's not that I don't like people,it's just I get bored hanging out with people for more than an hour or so(which is why I don't like parties and discos). They told me I should empathize more, but I try to help my friends the best I can,but don't want to spend hours and hours with them.

Well, most of the time sure. It's kinda confusing to me, in Gears of War or Mortal Kombat it seems fine to me, since the Graphics are advance sure but it's not realistically rendered, so I know there are some anatomical details missing. but in movies or tv shows like in horror or goreno like I don't know Saw. I faze a little.
although I never seen so much blood or gore in real life. only in Video Games and TV. I guess with my way of living there's little to no chance of seeing so much gore and disturbing things. (not that I like to)

@TidusandYuna1 I know that feeling. My Classmates always tell me to. "Get out of my shell" more and more when I tell them my lifestyle. people misunderstand shyness, anxiety disorder and just plain introvert. I hang out too, maybe a couple of hours. after that. I get tired..... or bored or both. and makes me want to go home asap. And I never been to parties or discos. I just try to live a simple life I guess help friends and family. y'know typical student life.

@Kierwiny It's good to know somebody else has a similar feeling towards socializing as me. Especially since me preferring to do a small amount of socializing cannot be diagnosed with a medical condition,so people just label me as self-centered or grumpy.I would go out of my way to help somebody in need,I give to charity, but some people think a warm person is just somebody who smiles a lot and will party with you all night and tell endless jokes.

I still stay clear away from horror games. Also don't like gore for the shock value so I don't play MK. Fallout's gore would have deeply disturbed me before but the self therapy worked. When it comes to social anxiety never listen to people who tell you you're just shy, or self centred, everyone is unique & we've all been through horrible stuff in our lives to get us there.

Now in a completely different discussion from the last one I want to talk about TVs. Lately more and more games have been suffering from two game related issues that I had no idea existed until the last month. The first is overscan and the second is input lag.

FFXV, Horizon Zero Dawn and now Persona 5 all had overscan problems. The first two were fixed but the second was not. Oddly there are a lot of trolls who don’t care to understand that older TVs do not have an option to fix this. Despite starting a #FixGameOverscan campaign I know I’ll have to buy a new TV one day even though I love my TV and I don’t really want to. This causes some anxiety too because I don’t want to buy another TV that has overscan, the insane prices in Australia, and input lag.

Input lag is a feature that to me makes no sense being in any TV. Picture this you buy a new TV bring it home and set everything up. You put on your favourite game, press the just button and nothing happens for about five seconds. This is a true story I read online and I did some research to find that this has been a common thing.

Here are some links about the subject:
https://displaylag.com/best-low-input-lag-tvs-gaming-by-gamers/
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=739555

I want to wait as long as possible before I buy a new TV so companies have time to get their act together, however when the time comes for us to get a new TV will you guys help if I tell you about what we can buy in our area?

Also what is your opinion on TVs at the moment? I don’t watch TV/cable/netflix. I only need it for games and DVDs so all this smart TV crap is useless and seemingly a part of every new TV on the market.

I'm not shy that's for sure. because when group work presentation is in the line. Look who's in front of the class talking? Me. they always keep making talk and report everything we done.

Now onto the topic that actually matters. Is Overscan has to do with Resolution of the media and the TV? like it's uh out of screen to put the moving picture in?
Frankly I have no idea what the heck is being talked about. although in my TV or monitor. Devant, forgot what the model called. Has different Screen setting, I guess. 16:9, 4:8, Zoom, full or "Just Scan" mode. I just put it in Just Scan since it's the most optimized and the whole picture is visible is this what's it about?

My dad would'd have been 80 today. This was his favourite song.
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World (Lyrics)

I heard this song the day after he died.
Flogging Molly - If I Ever Leave This World Alive + Lyrics

Molly was the name of a bar where they made their start.

Please comment on my TV blog BTW I'm a bit worried about it. Had a few new problems with Mass Effect Andromeda now. Blurry pics below:

I put the skip notification up on the screen so you could see the problem better.

I have a semi-smart TV in my man cave, but I don't use the features on it. I use the XB1 features instead. Everything is in one place, Netflix, TiVo, games, and movies. I love it.

Input lag is a latency problem (the delay between an input or command and the desired output). Devices like the TiVo suffer from latency which results in overshooting menu choices, and choosing the same item twice because nothing seemed to happened the first time. It can be aggravating and result in an overall dissatisfied feeling with the device.

Why would they design a TV that way? Anyway news of TVs like that upset me so when it comes time to buy a TV I want all the advice on TVs I can get!

From the research I've done so far TVs sold here can be a bit more expensive over here. The most expensive one is $11,998, the cheaper ones are pathetic in size, and the ones I could save for are a few inches bigger than the space that I've got. Also overscan isn't mentioned in any of the descriptions and input lag is only on a few.

The short answer is price. Designers of TV's are faced with what would make the TV work really well verses what it would cost. "We need processor x6 to make this TV respond fast, but it costs $250. We better use processor x2. It only costs us $40 and we could sell the TV for much less and stay competitive."

That's the problem.
