John Howard,Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnball never seemed to care about giving Australia 1st world internet or public transport. I remember Tony Abbott saying ''we are not going to force computers on people'' and ''the internet is good enough''. John Howard said ''what are people protesting about''? When people pointed out Australia's public transport is 3rd world. The NSW state government Liberal politicians told people to go to a 3rd world country if they want to see 3rd world infrastructure.Funny thing is,Thailand is referred to as a '3rd world country' and Laos definitely is 3rd world, but Thailand and Laos have faster internet speed than Australia, and Thailand has better public transport.

Well my NBN is working a little bit better now. Achieved 3Mbps one night, When Borderlands 3 or whatever else we get into MP comes out I'll be able to play with you guys. I'll try to start posting again. Didn't want to when I was worried about Masiv and Bear. Thankfully hurricane Jose seems to be weakening and moving away from America!

My Xbox one Elite or older X1 controllers don't work when plugged in and I can't find answers on google. Anyone here heard of this? I'm hoping that I can charge it up while it is off. Tried two wires too.

I can't believe that I'm writing this. Ok first up some back story. This blog is about political events effecting gaming. I'll try to stay as far away from a political discussion as possible, this blog is definitely about games! There is a nasty current trend that originated in RUS politics and has spread to the UK, US, and AUS that is now getting into gaming news that is downright awful: fake news propaganda.

Propaganda of course has been around ever since man told his first lie, but these days it seems to be getting into everything including gaming. Now I have to accounts on twitter; one I use for gaming I go there and collect news for us to enjoy here, the other is for hobby two global politics. There I follow leaders and oppositions from all over the world I've made friends on the left, right, and centre. I've been attacked by a lot of Nazis & insane people, and been subjected to fake propaganda, lots of it!

My gaming twitter account is normally a lot less stressful but a few days ago I found out that Ubisoft had started a Far Cry 5 twitter account. Excited that I could bring you guys some news I quickly pressed the follow button and began to read (I've posted a lot check it out!).

Okay so we know that Far Cry 5 is set in the USA with a cult based on Christianity. Now they key words here are "cult" and "based on" the bad guys are not supposed to be real Christians they are terrorists who think the world is ending.

A group of people got onto this and decided to start their own fake news campaign against FC5. There are a ton of fake stories floating around about FC5 right now. Here are some examples; You'll play a Muslim out to kill Americans defending their homes, the enemies are all current POTUS supporters and you'll play a Liberal, and more and more garbage. If you've read these forget them it is all rubbish. Ubisoft has had to combat this on twitter and on reputable gaming sites.

If your are thinking that Ubisoft should have stayed out of the USA while it is so divided right now I disagree. Politics start wars and wars have always been a part of gaming ever since earth was attacked by evil alien "Space Invaders." We have fought the Nazis in countless WW2 games, we have seen war games in Nam, & Russia. More current conflicts like Afghanistan, & Iraq. Thankfully fake wars with China and North Korea. There are games based on real political scenarios that happened in Japan during the Edo period. Then you have role playing games from both Japan and the west that take real politics and use them in fantasy backdrops to make their stories more realistic.

Back to propaganda in gaming. Persona 5 has been called out for being anti god, there was a campaign to have it banned for it's negative views on religion. Here's the thing it really isn't. There are some spoilers about one of the main bad guys coming up. You've been warned! The bad thing who has been manipulating everything from behind the scenes is a fake god who is a physical manifestation of people desires and fears born into the other world that the heroes have been exploring. Now the word "Persona" comes from psychology Carl Jung said an individual projects to others, as differentiated from the authentic self." In the game the persona's are made out of demons and angels from every religion on Earth; from ancient Egyptian to Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Christians, dead sea scrolls cults, and so on. Final Fantasy does something similar with their summons like Leviathan from the Bible and Shiva from Hinduism. Everything in the other world is fake it is a manifestation of the desires in a persons heart and that is why the heroes don't try to rescue the people in the prisons during the first quest because they don't exist. Some people ignored this and said that the game was about killing God with Lucifer. The God in the game is represented by a machine version of the holy grail and according to the Bible this is a false idol. Persona's in the game are not actual demons so we are not in fact killing god if you believe in what is in the Bible and if you don't believe in the Bible it doesn't matter because it is a game not prophecy.

As for campaigns to outright ban games this is a tough issue. I've always been of the mind that if we are going to have a free society we can't be constantly censored like we are currently. This goes for every country Australia has had it with games, the US with what you can say on TV, UK and Japan has porn restrictions, China has an insane amount of it for everything that it has become like the book 1984. In other countries censorship of beliefs, or literature has started genocides. What has this got to do with gaming? Well banning a game because it goes against your religion or political beliefs is the start of the slippery slope. You might be happy that your leader is in but leaders change and the new one can then use the laws that the last one made to ban what you like. Freedom should of course have some restriction otherwise we will like in an anarchist state. Things like child porn you can definitely ban! But not a game that's views oppose your own.

After saying that last part remember that some of what is being written about Far Cry 5 is rubbish & trying to get a game banned based on fake facts is a terrible trend that needs to be removed for both politics and gaming! Far Cry and Persona aren't the only ones, but I'll stick to them because I don't want this blog to take forever to write.

One last thing before I stop. Do not reply about fake news outside of gaming (no politics outside of gaming, or Left Vs Right ether) I only want to talk about how propaganda has influenced games on my blog!

Not just games:

Great post, and good points you make. Far Cry 5 isn't trying to defame Christianity,it's based on a cult that's influenced by Christianity . Such cults exist, such as the Ku Klux Klan. There's also been lots of games and movies made in where you fight against Islamic extremists, but those games aren't trying to defame Islam, they are merely creating a fictional scenario that's based on real world events. Christian extremists are more prevalent in rural places in the U.S(which Far Cry 5 is based in),just like how many Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games have you fighting in the middle east against muslim extremists.

It's annoying how people use propaganda and misinformation to try to dissuade others, and especially when people take things too seriously. Some people claim Persona is anti-Christian,but I'm sure the developer of Persona didn't have any intention to make Persona be that way. I have friends whom are Christians, and even they don't like it when some Christians(whom make up only a small minority of Christians)take things to extremes and want to play the role of a victim if anything that is not pro-Christian is created.

I've replaced the wires and batteries on my X1 and it came good. However now my PS4 is having problems and doing the same thing ins't fixing it. My controller keeps turning itself off even when plugged in, also sometimes the buttons start activating without input. Tried buying a new controller and it keeps happening.

Seen a lot of complaints at http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PS4-Support/PS4-Dualshock-4-Controller-disconnecting-after-a-few-seconds/m-p/22932385

If I can't find a fix I might have to buy a new console. It could be the bluetooth playing up. If anyone can find me a fix let me know! It could save me $469! Best price I can find for a PS4 Pro.

So apparently my PS4 seems to be dying and my PC is now pausing on occasion. Technology is driving me insane right now and I'm actually hating it.

FC5 seems like it go either way it all depends on how they address what ever themes of religion they inject into the game, I will wait for the reviews but hopefully they approach things carefully and with out p***ing people off.

The entertainment industry has always addressed religious and political themes of old and present but usually with subtle and open minds however these days the industry is of a more you're with us or against us mindset which to me is just not the way to go about things. Star Trek I think the best example in the past of how to approach political and social issues with an open mind and heart without bashing people over the head and saying think this way or else! These show where more of way of asking us questions rather than telling us what to think.

To quote another sci-fi show- "Never fear answers, only running out of questions" When we stop asking questions and instead only tell people what to do then who are we?

You know how you have one of those days where everything goes wrong. Well the past month and a bit has been like that. My mother has had problems, then my Xbox One started to misbehave, after that was fixed with a new wire the PS4 started to play up, I discovered that my external hard drive was stopping my controller from working so I deleted about 60 games and got rid of it. Controller came good and then the screen went dark. So I re-plugged in everything and discovered that the port where you plug the camera in for VR is busted. Thankfully the screen seem fixed but time will tell. After all this happened my PC started to pause I deleted a bunch of games but it didn't help and then I tried increasing the virtual memory. The pausing is completely random so it is another time will tell.

I'll get into mums and my other problems later, but this is the reason I haven't been posting.

PS Thade: I really wish they'd bring back the original universe series of Star Trek!

My TV is on the way out. Screen goes black and makes a popping noise. I love this TV it's served me well. Everything has gone wrong all at once. I'm planning on getting a Sony KD43X7000E 43" 4K UHD HDR Smart LED LCD TV. It's the cheapest 4k I could find that doesn't have weird problems or bad lag. I hope it's a good one because I can't afford to get another and TV technology scares me.

I was hoping to get a regular TV without all this smart crap, but they don't seem to exist anymore, they also don't make Plasma TVs any more either They've been replaced by TVs way out of my price range the OLED and QLED series.

I think poor people have been forgotten when it comes to gaming TVs. Didn't need to look up gaming TVs before because every TV could do what the others could. The better the technology we get the faster things break down.

I'm both sad and angry at this I hope my new TV isn't going to be bad.

Don't be fooled by the advertising hype. A 43 inch screen doesn't need 4,000 lines of resolution. That's just a waste of money. I have a 52 inch with 1920x1080 lines and it's beautiful. The reason they went to such a high resolution is because the 65 to 80 inch screens needed it. The bigger the screen, the more resolution you need. Smaller screens just don't benefit from it. Stick with 1080P for the size you are looking at. And if you are using Smart devices, like Xbox One or a disk player with apps included, like Netflix and YouTube, you don't need to pay for it again in the TV. Buy a smart TV if you need the apps, but pass on the expense if you don't.

Games are about possibilities, the paths we take as well as the ones we don't.

Thanks but um too late... Got my new TV on sale though so I have a 49 instead of a 42 quite cheap for the type. 5 years warranty. Sadly their trucks are all booked out so I'll get it in the next 3 days.

Got to see a 55 in the store and it was incredible!

A High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible TV will change the way you look at TV. Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, colour and contrast, with a far wider range of brightness than other video formats. The result is the most lifelike picture TVs have ever been able to create, with brilliant highlights and fine detail.

Rediscover every detail with 4K X-Reality™ PRO
Discover a thrilling world of extraordinary clarity. Every single pixel is enhanced beautifully by our most powerful 4K picture processing technology ever. Individual parts of each scene are analysed and matched with a special image database that independently addresses texture, contrast, colour and edges. The difference is clear with supremely lifelike detail, whatever you're watching.

Made to listen: ClearAudio+
Make your listening as lifelike as your viewing. ClearAudio+ fine-tunes TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialogue and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching.

Be online instantly with one button YouTube™
Go straight to YouTube™ and enjoy all your favourite videos. We have made YouTube™ faster than ever on this internet ready TV and included a YouTube™ button on the remote control for easy browsing.

Narrow aluminium frame
The narrow frame helps the TV look slim and attractive, focusing the eye on the screen for maximum entertainment.

Cable management
Keep wires out of sight. All of your cables can be neatly arranged across the back of the TV and channelled into the stand, so everything looks tidy.

Cable-free front
Hide all your cables from set-top boxes or Blu-ray players within the unique stand.

Motionflow™ XR keeps the action smooth
Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow™ XR. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. Some models also include black-frame insertion for a blur-free and truly cinematic look.

DSEE restores detail to your digital music
Low-resolution Internet video, catch-up TV and other heavily compressed audio files don’t always sound so great. A large amount of information gets thrown away when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components (especially high frequencies) are restored for natural sound with a more spacious feel.

Clear Phase for smooth, balanced frequencies
BRAVIA™ uses a powerful computer model to analyse and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by ‘sampling’ the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker’s natural response – resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.

Cinematic S-Force Front Surround
Enjoy an immersive soundstage that pulls you into the heart of the action. S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum – using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you’ll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.

Great entertainment wirelessly with built-in Wi-Fi
Link up easily to your home network. With built-in Wi-Fi, you’re free to go online and browse movies, enjoy video channels like YouTube™ and access services such as on-demand TV. Best of all, you can stream entertainment from your wireless home network and the Internet without the clutter of cables.

Your smartphone on the big screen
Screen mirroring lets you enjoy content and apps from your smartphone on your Sony TV. Supersize all your memories and enjoy them on the big screen with family and friends.

Super multi-format USB play
Enjoy your favourite digital content from any USB stick. Play music, video clips and view photo collections all through your TV with super multi-format USB play. Supporting a wide range of codecs, you can experience ultimate format versatility, simply plug in and you’re ready to go.

Turn your TV into a digital recorder: USB HDD REC
Store your favourite TV shows on an external USB hard disk drive to enjoy whenever you want. USB HDD REC allows one-touch and timer recording of a digital broadcast onto any USB HDD device up to 2TB in capacity. While viewing the show, simply press REC to start recording, which will automatically stop at the end of the programme.

Thanks and wow when I posted exhausted I had no idea how much lol I got a call at around 2PM That my TV was incoming. So I went to check that I'd done everything that I thought I needed to do. The nights before I'd put the old tv elsewhere, dusted and moved the the tv stand and set up new 4K HDMI wires for the PS4, XB1, DVD player, and bought a bunch of screwdrivers.

A few anxious hours it began to rain & the TV arrived. We quickly got it inside before it could get wet and got it out of the box. The instructions said not to touch the screen in one part and said to put the TV face down in order to screw in the TV stand on the other. I figured my soft mattress was the way to go. At this moment we realised that we didn't have the screws. After a long search though many plastic bags and polythene foam we found them stuck to the back of the manual. Quickly I screwed them in and was about to stand up the TV when I realised that my meticulous planning was flawed. This TVs stand was shorter than the last one & now I had nowhere to put it! This was because of the height of another stand that I use for my PS4. So I put on some clothes that I didn't mind getting wet and literally ran though the rain to the local op shop. A little blessing out of the rain they had a TV stand that I could out on top of my other TV stand to make it the right height. There was no price on it so I asked her how much and she said you can have it for $5! I ran home with it, dried, myself, and got changed.

It was at this time I realised that it was slightly to wide and the legs could slip could cause disaster! Mum said that there were no screws for the legs. At our wits end we were about to give up when I realised that the surface was good on the opposite side. So I flipped it over and I used an upside down stand. Worked perfectly 😄

Everything started to go good for a while now. The TV's reception is incredible! There is no lag that I can see. I've tried The Witcher 3 on the X1 and FFXV on PS4 both with upscaleling on. I don't know if it is the larger screen, the 4K, or both but the graphics show a lot more detail. The sound is supurb too. My old TV was around 14 years old so this is a HUGE upgrade.

Then the internet cut out...
