Oh, Contact was a great sci-fi ride. From a mysterious audible contact at a listening station to an amazing contact. Oh yeah.

I remember watching The Dish when it first came out and really enjoying it. Other Aussie movies I have enjoyed are Two Hands, Acolytes, Animal Kingdom and Chopper. A sci-fi movie that you might like Falcon is Contact with Jodie Foster in case you haven't seen it.

Yup I've seen it. Good movie.

Have you seen The Man From Snowy River? It's considered to be the best movie Australia ever made, and based on a real guy.

Another old Scifi you might like if you can find it is Space Above and Beyond. It was a great show that they canceled to early. Even with a small budget they made a cool movie to start, the graphics were good, and they made an end for it despite the cancellation.

I watched the "Edge of Tomorrow" but not "The Dish" yet. I think we will see it next week. It should be really good. I'm looking forward to it.

Be warned for your family viewing there is three swearword in it. One is so fast I doubt anyone will notice it, and BS is said twice (un-abbreviated). Just thought you should know in-case you have rules about that with your younger ones. I found it odd that the fast one was there is an otherwise family movie.

Thanks Falconer for looking out for me. The kids are grown and it's just the wife and me.

What is the absolute worst Game to Movie adaptation you have ever seen?

For me it is the abysmal Street Fighter Movie

If you have never seen this then you're lucky. The acting is over the top, the script is laughable, and the moment the bad guy brought out arcade buttons and joysticks to launch his secret weapons even my child brain couldn't handle the absurdness.

By the way this movie surprisingly brought in $99,423,521 worldwide!

I had forgotten all about that movie, like you even when it came out (I was 13 or 14) I knew it was awful lol.

It is bad there are so many awful movies based on games, I think the worst beside SF is Dungeon Siege or really any of Uwe Bolls or Paul Andersons movies.

here are a couple of good ones or ones that I liked at least:

Silent Hill 2006

Hitman 2007

For me, House of the Dead takes the cake.

Imdb's score for the film is 2.0 and I think that score is a bit too generous. The film takes nothing from the classic arcade rail shooter it was based off of. The Youtube channel Cinema Sins did a video on the film. Here's the link.

Well, I haven't seen it, but the movie, Postal made $146,741. That's it. It's the lowest earning film of all the movies made from a video game.

Read the absurd plot of this movie. No wonder it flopped.

WTH? That is worse than Street Fighter by far :D

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Super Mario Bros.

Four or five years ago a friend and I were at Wal-Mart and he bought Super Mario Bros. We watched it and laughed the whole way through. It was so bad, it was hilarious.

Good Morning Vietnam is a great movie.Robin Williams does a great job at making the movie funny at times, and the movie has good messages about morality in it.The Street Fighter movie was painful to watch, this is coming from someone who is a big Street Fighter fan.The Street Fighter II and Street Fighter Alpha animated movies are quite good though.Speaking of war and Sci Fi,I think Babylon 5 is great and was a major inspiration for the Mass Effect series.

Babylon 5 is great, I just finished watching start to finish again. I would have loved them to have continued and done the Drakh and Telepath war storylines.

Me too.The telepath war sounded quite epic from what I've read.SPOILERS Especially since Linear died fighting in that war END OF SPOILERS and I could feel Lita's heartbreak after Byron died and how she wanted to continue Byron's work which was to give telepaths freedom from the PSI corps.

I always figured that the Narn would help out given that Lita was going to help them get their telepathic abilities back.

I think the Telepath war could have been the best storyline, some people didn't like the final season and I understand why but I rather enjoyed it. Didn't like Byron at all he just felt really creepy and he kept telling his group mundanes can't be trusted then he was surprised the Telepaths tried to take over B5 lol.

They did a great a job with Lita going from nice and helpful to villain in season 5, much like poor Talia. Would have liked to have seen more of Bester too he was great and you never really knew what to expect from him.

Bester was an awesome villain, he really creeped me out lol. He was the polar opposite of Chekhov that Walter Koenig played in Star Trek.
