Yeah, I agree. I love JRPGs or other RPGs like Action ones. but most of the time, Side quests and should we just say it Contracts. is much more of a chore than quests. like collecting a certain number of bagels or what not. another type of quests in common RPG is kill a certain number of poor souls that needs hurting. and that's pretty much it. the Witcher 3 changed the definition of Side Quests. man, investigation, Helping a certain someone you used to work with and can make a really huge difference in the main quests line. The contracts are like these too, really absorbing way to do side quests.

EDIT: Now I'm currently finishing my really overdue games, I hate to admit it that I have a habit that I'm buying games that I don't play or stops playing it in the middle of the playthrough, but I'll finish it so I have no worries before I buy PS4 and play some Currently going games.
Now Playing: Hyperdevotion: Goddess Black Heart. It's a take turn Strategy game based of my beloved JRPG game Hyperdimension: Neptunia.

Exactly they can also show you different sides to characters that you haven't seen before. If I owned a game studio (something I really want to do) I'd make it mandatory for everyone to play it. Even the lawyers lol

Something that FFXV and W3 got right was placing a large exploration circle on the map instead of pointing you right to your goal. I always though that games that for example said "Go find the treasure" pointed you right to it. Way too much hand holding!

Too less hand holding is kinda bothersome to IMO, like Resident Evil 1. I like the Horror element, and it made me jittery in more or less 5 different ways but there are times in some parts of the game I'm too busy solving puzzles and finding a certain key to be scared or to be scared in the atmosphere.
Plus, I would love to make games too, unfortunately my current predicament says other wise, and If I get the chance the only game I'll get to make is a Visual Novel with no action and full of reading.

I like building social links in the Persona games,I don't know if they count as side quests, but bonding(learning about other characters)made the characters in the game feel like real people.

I like how Final Fantasy X has Blitzball and allows you to try to find jecht spheres that reveal secrets about certain character's pasts. The monster arena produced some epic battles and tested your turn-based strategy abilities to the limit.

Fallout 4 has town building,but I haven't played FO4 yet.

I would like to see more RPGs give the player things to do besides just fetch quests or kill 10 monsters type of thing.

You'll spend more time building stuff in FO4 than actually using it or being there to be honest. It became more and more of a chore than an actual building. it's kinda like a delegation. once you play it and see for yourself you'll know what I mean.

I'm currently of actually playing Persona 5 once it comes out. I hate to admit it but, I haven't played any of Persona games. by the time I knew about the ones in PS2. I already sold my console to buy PS3. but I may have a chance in Persona 5.

I agree with the sidequests/contracts for Witcher 3, every quest was fun and had been well written and like Falcon said it should be a game every RPG studio looks at and plays before making another game. Bioware used to put the same love into their games but look at ME2/3 and DA:I, just enough of a story to warrant a game and then filled with fluff especially Inquisition it's worse than a MMO for fetch and return missions. ME2/3 are almost the same game, Shepard returns to duty recruits allies then does loyalty missions to go on a suicide mission 😑

I can only hope that they listen to their fans for Andromeda.

I just finished Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I wasn't satisfied on The Witcher 3 Fantasy stuff and it was on sale so I thought I'd get my hands on it. unfortunately it's not enough, it was too easy. Tomorrow more or less is 22 and they said they're gonna have some Steam Winter Sale. I was thinking of quite awhile now that I should get Dark Souls 3. but I never played any Dark Souls games. If you guys know a thing or two about it I'm happy and really open for suggestions on how to begin. Beginner's Guide maybe? I'll read some and I hear that Dark Souls Games are quite difficult.

I've played Demon's Souls(which is similar and made from the same developer).

The biggest piece of advice I can give is have patience.Time your attacks carefully, block enemy attacks and don't use hack n slash methods.Don't go rushing into areas/rooms,because you could get ambushed by multiple enemies.Slowly move through each environment and pick off enemies one at a time. In Demon's Souls,I used a character class(royalty knight)and killed enemies from afar using magic.I've heard the Dark Souls games have a character class with a similar ability.

In Demon's Souls, some enemies always dropped healing herbs, and I farmed healing herbs to make boss battles easier.

After Reading/Admiring Negligee the whole time I was Downloading Dark Souls III I'm currently playing DS3 now. somehow, It IS difficult. but anything and everything can be learned. just need an odd amount of time and patience.

I don't know, beating my first boss battle made me somehow feeling accomplished. am I that shallow?

Not at all.To be honest, the difficulty level for the Souls games is about the same as many games during the Mega Drive/SNES/N64 eras.Back in those days, games were more challenging, and it felt like an accomplishment to beat them. Many modern games have very forgiving difficulty levels to make them more appealing to casual gamers, hence beating many modern games is more a matter of 'if' and not 'when'.

I remember a few years ago when I played Zelda Ocarina of Time for the first time in over 10 years, and it's difficulty was so much more than I remember,I actually had to block with my shield and focus on defense and not hack n slash carelessly at enemies like I can with the modern Zelda games.

A few years ago,I tried playing one of my favorite action/adventure games from the 16-Bit era named 'Blades of Vengeance',and I struggled with the game's difficulty, even though I could easily beat the game when I was 10 years old.Modern games have made me adapted to being careless and not testing me as much, but the Souls games make you earn a victory against a boss, and makes it feel more rewarding :)

Somehow, Modern Games are easy and forgiving. like modern FPS games giving players regenerating health like on CoD or Halo. unlike the first FPS games like Doom and Quake. that makes you search for Health packs or medkits. which adds the instinct to fight or not to fight. I like that one too. although modern FPS games are fun to play too.

I've been playing the ME3 horde mode again, it is fun playing as all those other races and the MP skill tree's have a lot more fun stuff to play with than the single player. I have also been playing Bully again since it became backwards compatible.

Just finished Dark Souls III, continuing on to Ashes of Ariandel DLC. and I think I'll probably stop with these kind of games for awhile, It quite soothed my thirst for Dark Fantasy and going into Impossible odds on Difficulty >.< but it was quite the experience dying a lot of times but I managed.

Well done. The old school difficulty level for the Souls games makes them satisfying to beat.
